What is a bail bond?

We transfer the funds to the jail, ensuring your freedom, while you make sure you show up to court. A Trusted Bail Bondsman

Arrow Bail Bonds does receive a percentage of the bail that’s posted as a premium. The rest of the bail can then be paid for financing. Bail often costs thousands of dollars, depending on the crime. Most people simply do not have that type of cash lying around and are often stuck. Instead of feeling helpless, you’ll want to call our knowledgeable bail bondsman serving Winston-Salem and the surrounding communities immediately. We get in touch with the jail and make sure a deal is made. It’s a convenient and hassle-free way to get a loved one home safe, giving the defendant ample time to figure out their affairs.

We accept credit cards, ATM cards, checks or cash for the bail bond posting. After the bail has been posted, the defendant is not out of the woods. They are required to show up to all necessary court dates, or a warrant will be issued for their arrest again.

Types of Bail Bonds

Surety Bonds: This type of bond is a three-party agreement between the court, the bail bondsman or agent and the defendant. The agent uses their own property or company as a guarantee that the defendant will be present at all court hearings. If they do not show, they will have to pay the fine.

Cash Bail: In some instances, a court might order a cash-only bond if it thinks the defendant to be at least a moderate flight risk. The defendant will have to post the entire bond in cash in order to be released from jail. By not showing up for a court date, a bond refund is forfeited.

Property Bond: In some cases, the defendant is able put their property up for bond to be released from jail. However, if the client does not show up to their court dates, the court can take the property and foreclose on it.

Release on Personal Recognizance: Defendants are released on their own recognizance without having to post a bond to the court. The defendant will need to sign a written promise to appear in court.

Unsecured Personal Bond: Similar to being released on personal recognizance, this does not require posting anything for bond in exchange for release. The defendant needs to write a promise to appear in court for any dates. If any appearances are missed, the defendant will owe a fixed sum of money.

Secured Personal Bond: This type of bond is the most commonly seen and used in the court system. To be released, the defendant must post something of value like a car title, jewelry, property or money. If all court dates are made and the defendant is not convicted, the money or items will be returned. If the defendant is convicted, the money or items’ value will be out toward the fine or can be returned.

Pre-Trial Release Bond: Pre-trial release is used as a way to let the accused continue their lives outside of jail until their court date depending on the severity of the crime. Once out of jail, defendants participate in a probation-like program.
